The Gospel Weeklies support the important role of families by offering resources to help parents participate in their important role as the first educators of their children:
- In every lesson, you will find the Family Corner (Seeds, Promise, and Good News) or With My Friends and Family (Venture and Visions) feature with activities, questions, and prayers to help parents extend the lesson into the home.
- Our unique weekly approach of four- or eight-page student lessons allows children to take their lessons home to share with their families.
- The Teaching Guides for Seeds, Promise, and Good News contain suggestions for sharing every lesson with families.
- Customers can access these online resources designed for enhancing parish-family connections:
- The Gospel at Home / El Evangelio en el hogar provides a short description of the Sunday Gospel plus suggested activities and discussion starters for each age level. Designed for busy families, these easy-to-do ideas will bring families together to share what each member has learned about the Gospel they heard on Sunday (and studied in class). Print them out to send home or send as a link in a weekly newsletter.
- The Gospel for All Ages / El Evangelio para todas las edades offers ideas and plans for prayer services, parish-wide gatherings, and small group discussions—all based on the Sunday Gospel message. These online resources help you build on the foundation of the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies (preschool through Grade 9) by providing cohesive, parish-wide catechesis for families.
- Parent Teaching Pages / Guía de enseñanza para padres are easy-to-use guides that walk parents through teaching each lesson with step-by-step instructions, background information, and discussion starters. They are simplified versions of the Teaching Guides a catechist or teacher would use.
- Parent/Grandparent Assistance for Home Study / Ayuda a padres/abuelos para el estudio en casa is a part of our website through which Dr. Marylin Kravatz-Toolan shares ideas for how to incorporate a unique program of grandparent/family catechesis at the parish level. Through her love of teaching, she offers guidance about the benefits of including grandparents in the religious ed/catechesis/faith development of grandchildren and provides support for parents as they journey together as the primary educators in faith.
