Sacramental Prep and the Gospel Weeklies

Sacramental Prep and the Gospel Weeklies

All sacraments are celebrations of the parish community. What better way to prepare young people for the sacraments than by helping them and their families connect to the Sunday Mass? Plan to use the Gospel Weeklies as the basal series to support your Pflaum sacramental preparation resources. Every lesson of the Gospel Weeklies flows from the words and actions of Jesus Christ in the Sunday Gospels. Children learn their faith—including formation in doctrine, sacraments, commandments, and prayer—within the rhythms and seasons of the Liturgical Year, encouraging a growing participation in the life of the parish community.

Check out Pflaum’s Together in Jesus (First Eucharist, First Reconciliation, and Confirmation First Eucharist), Invited by Christ (Reconciliation and First Eucharist for Grades 4–6), and Gifted with the Spirit (Confirmation for Junior High* and Senior High). We will be posting correlations of the Gospel Weeklies with our sacramental prep resources for 2026–27. Bookmark this post and check soon for the link. These correlations are based on themes from the Sunday Gospels.
