Let’s Celebrate God’s Mercy

The Second Sunday of Easter is also known as the Sunday of Divine Mercy. In the 1930s, Jesus chose Sister Maria Faustina Kowalska, a Polish member of the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy, to receive private revelations concerning his Divine Mercy. Her spiritual director asked her to keep a record of them in her diary.

Sister Maria Faustina received a vision of Jesus with rays of red and white coming from his heart. He asked her to paint a picture of this vision with the signature, “Jesus, I trust in you.” Jesus requested that a Feast of Mercy be observed and taught her to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. On April 30, 2000, Sister Faustina was canonized a saint. Pope Saint John Paul II established that the Second Sunday of Easter would be known as the Sunday of Divine Mercy.

The Marian Fathers of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary are the official promoters of the authentic Divine Mercy message since 1941. Their website contains a lot of helpful information and resources about Saint Faustina and The Divine Mercy image. It also offers some free worksheets and activities for children.
