In 2015, Pope Francis wrote his encyclical letter On Care for Our Common Home (Laudato Si’) in an effort to help us understand our responsibility to protect our planet, shedding new light to the life-long Catholic teachings on caring for God’s Creation. In 2023, he wrote the apostolic exhortation To All People of Good Will on the Climate Crisis (Laudate Deum).
Laudato Si’ Week began as a celebration of the 1st anniversary of Pope Francis’s world changing encyclical letter. Every year since then, the Church invites Catholics and all people around the world to educate, pray, act, and celebrate the great strides the Catholic Church has made in its ecological journey during the past years and offers a clear road map for the future.
This year, Laudato Si’ Week will take place on May 19–26. You can join this celebration by praying each day of this week.
