Finding Out What the Children Already Know

Finding Out What the Children Already Know

As you begin your program year, catechists and teachers of Good News, Venture, and Visions may wish to give your students a pretest to get a snapshot of how much each student already knows about the content of the faith you’ll be covering in the upcoming year.

Children who can remember and express what they’ve learned are far more likely to retain that information. Pflaum provides weekly review templates for all five levels of the Gospel Weeklies in both Spanish and English. Portions of the templates can be used to reinforce learning in class (for example, catechists and teachers can use them as a review activity as students arrive). Or you may wish to send them home—assigned either as homework or to verify that a student has completed a missed lesson.

Other assessment tools are weekly lesson assessments for Promise, Good News, Venture, and Visions and unit and final assessments for Good News, Venture, and Visions. Find all assessments here.
