Feast Days for Buildings?

Feast Days for Buildings?

On November 9, we celebrate The Dedication of the Lateran Basilica in Rome in our liturgy. This week on November 18, we again recognize important buildings with this feast: The Dedication of the Basilicas of Saints Peter and Paul. The last of the four basilicas we recognize with a feast day in our liturgical calendar is The Dedication of the Basilica of Saint Mary Major on August 5. These four basilicas are all located in Rome, Italy, and are considered papal basilicas. With so many saints and events in the life of Jesus we could celebrate in the liturgy, Why Do Catholics Have Feast Days for Churches? Take a virtual tour of Rome’s Four Papal Basilicas offered on the Vatican’s website here.
