Lesson Theme: The Holy Spirit brings us peace.
The Sunday readings listed on page TG4-32 in the Teaching Guide for the 6th Sunday of Easter are incorrect. The correct readings are Acts 8:5–8, 14–17; 1 Peter 3:15–18; John 14:15–21.

For this lesson, you will need crayons, markers, scissors, a hole punch, yarn, ribbon, and a Church Year calendar. We suggest you separate pages 1–2 from 3–4 before the session.

This is the last lesson of our program year. The children learn will learn that Jesus promised to send us the Holy Spirit as their helper, protector, and guide. Mention that Jesus fulfilled his promise on Pentecost, which we will celebrate on 5/24. They will learn a short prayer to the Holy Spirit. Encourage them to say it anywhere and anytime.

We recommend signing and dating the medallions on page 1 before your session. Having one or two aides available to help the children with cutting and threading the medallions is also encouraged.

Find end-of-year certificates to give to the children here.

Be sure to send the What the Church Believes and Teaches Catechism handbooks home with the children. They will serve as a useful reference for families.

Promise
Lesson Theme: The Holy Spirit helps us share the Good News.
The Sunday readings listed on page TG4-32 in the Teaching Guide for the 6th Sunday of Easter are incorrect. The correct readings are: Acts 8:5–8, 14–17; 1 Peter 3:15–18; John 14:15–21.

For this lesson, you will need scissors, crayons, pencils, envelopes (one per child), a story coloring page (one per child), and a Church Year calendar. We recommend signing and dating the student’s megaphones on page 4 before your session. We suggest you separate pages 1–2 from 3–4 in advance.

This is the last lesson of our program year. The children learn will learn that Jesus promised to send us the Holy Spirit as our helper, protector, and guide. Mention that Jesus fulfilled his promise on Pentecost, which we will celebrate on 5/24.

On page TG4-35, the directions for the “Loving Actions Lotto” Activity are missing. The current directions are for the megaphone on pages 3–4 of the lesson. These are the correct directions:

Loving Actions Lotto Turn to pages 2–3 and ask what loving actions are happening in each of the four illustrations. Read the word by each illustration. Direct the children to cut out the long strip of letters across the bottom of pages 2–3 and then cut the letters apart. Each child finds a partner. Both children turn their letters upside down and then take turns turning over a letter and using it to cover the same letter near one of the four pictures. Play until one child has all the letters on one picture covered. Continue until all four words are finished. Have the children put the letters in an envelope so they can play the game at home.

Be sure to send the What the Church Believes and Teaches Catechism handbooks home with the children. They will serve as a useful reference for families.

Good News

For this lesson, you will need pencils, coloring tools, drawing paper with a dove outline (one per child), and a Church Year calendar.

The Good News children have talked about the Sacraments of Baptism and the Eucharist many times this year. In this lesson, they are introduced to the Sacrament of Confirmation. Together with Baptism and the Eucharist, Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation. Although our program year ends before the celebration of Pentecost on 5/24, we anticipate Jesus’ promise to send the Holy Spirit as a helper, guide, advocate, and comforter. The children learn that the Holy Spirit and the Sacrament of Confirmation will help them to follow Jesus’ way to God.
