Independence Day: A Time for Prayer

Independence Day: A Time for Prayer

Friday, July 4, is Independence Day in the United States. We celebrate our liberties and freedoms on this day with picnics, parades, and fireworks. It’s a welcome day off work for many people. Yet divisions and extreme ideologies have brought about fear, protests, and violence in the US. Ukraine’s hard-won independence continues to be attacked. Tensions and fighting persists in the Middle East. Let’s pray in thanksgiving for our freedoms, for help in seeking middle ground instead of division, in solidarity with those who fight for justice, and for conversion of all oppressors.
