On Sunday, September 7, we welcome two new saints to the official canon (list) of the Church: Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis. Both young men lived short but meaningful lives. Pope Leo XIV will canonize them on September 7. They will be the first saints canonized by our new Pope. The canonizations of the two young saints—one from the early twentieth century, the other the first twenty-first-century saint—have been greatly anticipated due to great devotion among the faithful.
As this new school and program year gets underway, it’s good to consider our own paths to holiness and sainthood. Keeping our final destination of Heaven always on our minds will help guide our everyday thoughts, words, and actions. May the children in our care find us to be models of faithful living and aspire to holiness—and sainthood—also!
