On Saturday, June 29, the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul, Apostles. Peter, a fisherman from Galilee and the rock of the Church, and Paul, apostle to the Gentiles, were fundamental in the advancement of the Christian faith after Jesus’ Death and Resurrection. Both died in Rome; Peter was crucified, and Paul was decapitated.

During his Homily on the celebration of this solemnity in 2012, Pope Benedict XVI called these two apostles “the principal Patrons of the Church in Rome” and declared that these two saints “together . . . represent the whole Gospel of Christ.”

May God grant us the strength and faithfulness of Saints Peter and Paul so that we can also bring the Gospel to every person we meet.
