The Second Reading for the 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time talks about faith. Saint Paul defines faith as “the realization of what is hoped for, and evidence of things not seen.” Through faith, we can possess, even now, what we hope for.
In Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus says to his disciples (and to us): “Do not be afraid any longer, little flock, for your Father is pleased to give you the kingdom.” As Catholics, our ultimate hope is to be with God forever in Heaven. This is precisely the promise that God made to us. Through his Word, our Father is telling us that, through faith, it is possible to bring his kingdom to everyone around us. We just have to trust in God and follow the law he put in our hearts.
