In Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus calms the storm surrounding the Apostles. Jesus can also calm the storms in our lives. Jesus reminds us that we must trust in him even when things look scary, because he is always in control.
During his Urbi Et Orbi Blessing to the world in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Pope Francis spoke about another occasion in which Jesus calmed a storm, this time after his Resurrection. On both occasions, Jesus asks his Apostles, “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?”
Pope Francis gives us comfort with these words: “ . . . this is God’s strength: turning to the good everything that happens to us, even the bad things. He brings serenity into our storms, because with God life never dies.”
Here at Pflaum, we pray that Our Lord will give you strength to continue his missionary work in the world as we get closer to the start of a new school year.
Please share this Sunday’s Family Corner activities and prayer with families to help them to keep reflecting on the Sunday Gospel during these summer months.
