Archbishop Fulton Sheen was scheduled to be beatified in Peoria, Illinois, on December 21. This event, which would have placed him one step away from being officially recognized as a saint, has been postponed. Read here for more information.
In these days of excessive “screen time,” it’s appropriate to honor a man who used radio and television to share the Good News. He did this so effectively that his television program, Life Is Worth Living, reached an estimated 30 million viewers weekly.
Sheen, a native of El Paso who was ordained in Peoria in 1919, was to be the first American bishop to be named Blessed. His eventual beatification will allow Catholics to pray publicly for his intercession on our behalf.
