A Call for Solidarity: Hurricane Relief Help

A Call for Solidarity: Hurricane Relief Help

Untitled design (68)

With the devastation wrought by Hurricane Harvey fresh in all our minds—and all too real for those whose families, homes, businesses, and churches are affected—we watch new storms in the Atlantic with great concern.

Pope Francis expressed his solidarity with all those affected by Hurricane Harvey in a message conveyed by the Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. Cardinal Parolin wrote that Pope Francis “trusts that the immense and immediate needs of so many individuals and communities will continue to inspire a vast outpouring of solidarity and mutual aid in the best traditions of the nation.”

Please generously support recovery efforts:

  • Parishes are taking up special collections.
  • The Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops has compiled a list of charities helping with the disaster.
  • The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is accepting donations to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund.
  • Catholic Charities USA has helped tens of thousands of individuals and families recover from disasters. To donate, text CCUSADISASTER to 71777 or visit catholiccharitiesusa.org. Funds raised will go towards Catholic Charities agencies’ efforts to assist families and individuals with shelter, food, and other immediate and long-term recovery needs.
