The Epiphany of the Lord commemorates the arrival of wise men or Magi from the East who were seeking the Christ Child. Remind the children that Christmas is not just one day—it’s an entire season in the Church in which Catholics celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Epiphany means “showing,” which underscores the fact that this was the first time that Gentiles (those who were not Jewish) saw Jesus. It is a good reminder that Jesus came for all people. Encourage the young people to lead their families in an Epiphany House Blessing. You may also choose to bless your classroom when the students return after Christmas break.
