The Pflaum Gospel Weeklies are based on the Sunday readings and apply the Gospel to the children’s lived experiences. This program year, following the Liturgical Calendar, the Church begins with Gospels from the Gospel of Luke (Year C). With the start of a new Church Year on the First Sunday of Advent, November 30, we will be following the readings for Year A, which come mainly from the Gospel of Matthew. Get a handle on what your children already know about the Gospels. Pflaum offers “We Meet Jesus in the Gospels” / “Conocemos a Jesús en los Evangelios”—a free, online lesson available for each level, including:
These Gospel lessons include a plan with a materials list, gathering and closing prayers, music suggestions from the Gospel Weeklies music collections, and Activity Books. The lessons follow the same three-step process as the regular Gospel Weeklies—Share Experiences, Discover Gospel and Doctrine, and Live the Gospel. However, they are not linked to a specific Sunday Gospel and may be used at whatever point in the year you determine works best for your class.
Make reading the Gospels a cherished activity—in class and at home—by giving each of the children a copy of Pflaum’s The Gospel for Young Catholics.
