In October 2021, Pope Francis officially initiated a three-year process of consultation within the Catholic Church that will conclude in 2024. This process is called “a Synod on Synodality.” The Holy Father has explained that the term synodality means being syn-hodos, that is, “on the road together.” His vision is for the Church to walk together on the journey as one. Pope Francis wants this process to be “an exercise in mutual listening” throughout all levels of the Church and involving the faithful.
