Get Ready: Advent Is Coming

144

In the flurry of pageants, presents, and holiday preparations, Advent can become anything but the peaceful, contemplative season it’s meant to be. Even children feel the rush and frenzy. You can help your children prepare for Christmas by helping them focus their attention on the meaning of this holy season.

  • Seeds children will pray with their own Advent wreath activity, which is available in English and Spanish.
  • Promise children will build an Advent train, adding a car each Sunday of Advent. This activity is available in both English and Spanish.
  • My Advent Calendar gives Good News children an activity or question about the saints for each day of Advent.
  • Use the Advent Crossword with Venture students to see what they already know about the season.
  • The Feasts of Advent and Christmas activity page gives Visions students an overview of the Church’s many celebrations during these seasons. Again, it makes an excellent pre-test to see how much the young people already know.
