Curriculum Connections
l Tech: Have the students do guided research to learn about different communities and people around the world. Instruct the students to pay particular attention to issues faced by those communities and invite them to brainstorm solutions to these issues. (ISTE2016.7d)
l SS: As the students complete their research, ask them to create a paper-based (or electronic) map of the area where the community lives. If possible, encourage the students to use their map to highlight the issues faced by the community (e.g., lack of access to clean drinking water). (D2.Geo.3.6-8)

Catholic Identity Project of the Week
One way we can go into the world and proclaim the Gospel is to share the fruits of the religious education program with the larger parish community. Make a brief video of each student sharing something he or she learned about God this year in your class. Share the video with families.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l May 13: Our Lady of Fatima – Between May 13 and October 13, 1917, three Portuguese children—Francisco, Jacinta, and Lucia— received apparitions of Our Lady near Fatima. Mary asked the children to pray the Rosary for world peace, an end to World War I, sinners, and Russia’s conversion. The message of Fatima is simple: Pray.
l May 14: Saint Matthias, Apostle – After Jesus’ Ascension, Peter proposed a new Apostle be named to replace Judas, saying, “It is necessary that one of the men who accompanied us the whole time the Lord Jesus came and went among us...become with us a witness to his resurrection” (Acts 1:21–22). Matthias was chosen.
