Curriculum Connections
l ELA: Have the students analyze this Sunday’s Gospel’s theme, then have them select another story in the Bible with a similar theme. Ask each student to read that story and then find a short video of the story online. Have them compare the video to the written text, highlighting similarities and differences, and share their findings in a written response. (CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.7.7)
l Tech: Arrange the students into pairs and have each group pick a form of digital communication (e.g., email, texting, social media, etc.). Then ask the students to create an example of a kind and considerate exchange between two people through this medium. (ISTE2016.2)

Catholic Identity Project of the Week
Create Love One Another Bingo cards. As a group, brainstorm ways to love as Jesus loves. Then hand out a blank Bingo card to each student and have her or him fill in each spot with a different way to love as Jesus loves. Ask them to pick a different way to love each day of the week and, when they complete it, to check it off their board. Next week, have the students share stories about their experiences.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l May 10: The Ascension of the Lord – This is the traditional day
for celebrating our Lord’s Ascension 40 days after Easter. Commonly called Ascension Thursday, it’s now celebrated in the United States on the following Sunday except in the archdioceses of Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Omaha, Philadelphia.
l May 10: Saint Damien de Veuster (USA) – Some people thought Father Damien was a hero for going to Moloka’i (Hawaii) to live and care for the physical, medical, and spiritual needs of those with leprosy (Hansen’s disease). Ask: Was Father Damien more foolish or courageous to risk his life to care for those with leprosy?
