Sunday Readings: Acts 4:8–12; 1 John 3:1–2; John 10:11–18
                                     For Catechists and Teachers
Scripture Background
Sunday’s Gospel tells us Jesus is like those good shepherds who willingly give their lives for their sheep and not like hired shepherds who run when the wolf comes. Jesus is our leader. His example of self-giving calls us to nd ways to give ourselves as leaders.
Connecting Scripture and Doctrine
By embracing in his human heart, the Father’s love for people, Jesus loved them to the end, for no one has greater love than laying down one’s life for one’s friends (CCC, 609). The Church is a sheepfold, the sole and necessary gateway to which is Christ. It is also the ock of which God foretold that God would be the shepherd (CCC, 754).
