Curriculum Connections
l ELA: Have the students conduct research on sheep. If possible, write a class email to a farmer for additional information. Then invite the students to write a brief report on sheep. (CCSS.ELA- Literacy.W.3.7)
l Sci: Explain that when weather-related hazards such as hurricanes strike, humans take precautions to protect themselves, buildings, and animals. Share with the students some design solutions that reduce the impact of such hazards (barriers to prevent flooding, wind-resistant roofs, moving animals into buildings). Work with the students to evaluate the merits of such designs in reducing the impact of weather-related hazards. (NGSS.3-ESS3-1)

Catholic Identity Project of the Week
This Sunday’s Gospel reminds us of how good Jesus, the Good Shepherd, is to us. He watches over us, takes care of us, and protects us. Have each child make a Gratitude List, brainstorming things she or he is grateful for and adding them to the list. Encourage the children to add to their list each week.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l April 22: World Day of Prayer for Vocations
l April 25: Saint Mark, Evangelist – Mark was not one of the 12
Apostles and may not have known Jesus personally. He drew on Peter’s witness and the Churches in Jerusalem and Antioch as sources for his Gospel, which is the oldest and shortest of the four.
l April 28: Saint Gianna Beretta Molla – This 20th-century Italian wife, mother, and pediatrician is a champion of unborn children. Early in her 6th pregnancy, doctors discovered a uterine tumor. Gianna allowed them to remove the tumor but insisted her child be protected. Gianna died a week after giving birth to baby Gianna.
