For example, a red teddy bear and a white teddy bear might have a pink teddy bear or a red and white polka dot teddy bear. Teach the students how to use a Punnet square and have them complete Punnet squares for different types of genetic variations. (NGSS.MS-LS3-2)
l SS: Have students research the area where Jesus lived and taught. In pairs, instruct them to create a map of cultural and environmental patterns in that area. (D2.Geo.1.6-8)

Catholic Identity Project of the Week
While we cannot heal sickness like Jesus did, we can provide comfort to people who are sick. Invite each child to make a card wishing an individual a quick recovery. Coordinate with the parish office to send the cards to sick or convalescing parishioners.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l February 6: Saint Paul Miki and Companions – A Jesuit brother born in Japan in late 16th century, Paul Miki and 26 others— catechists, missionaries, laymen, servants, elderly people, and children—were crucified in 1627 for their Christian beliefs. Today, there are about 500,000 Catholics in Japan.
l February 10: Saint Scholastica – Born into a wealthy family, Scholastica was free to pursue her education. She lived near Monte Cassino, the site of the first Benedictine monastery (her twin brother was Saint Benedict of Nursia, founder of the Benedictine order). She is patron of schools, tests, books, and reading.
