Curriculum Connections
l Health: Have students bring in magazines they can cut up. Discuss with students what it means to be healthy emotionally, intellectually, physically, socially, and religiously. In small groups, ask students to create collages of examples of the different types of health. (NHES.1.5.2)
l SS: Ask students to explain why people all over were talking about Jesus in the Gospel story. Discuss with students the relationship between cause and effect in events. Give students a list of events they know about (from the social studies curriculum). In pairs, have the students explain probable causes and effects of the various events. (D2.His.14.3-5)

Catholic Identity Project of the Week
It’s Catholic Schools’ Week in the United States—a great time to reflect on and share the Good News. Invite your group to write letters about what they have learned about Jesus this year.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l January 31: Saint John Bosco – Founder of the Society of Saint Francis de Sales (the Salesians), Don Bosco helped disadvantaged boys in Italy. He founded a sister order dedicated to the care and education of poor girls. Salesians run more than 3,000 schools and technical centers worldwide (salesians.org).
l February 2: Presentation of the Lord – Also celebrated as Candlemas, this feast commemorates Jesus’ Presentation in the Temple in Jerusalem 40 days after his birth. The Presentation is the fourth Joyful Mystery of the Rosary. Pray a decade of the Rosary.
