with speed and enthusiasm. They follow Jesus and share in his work of spreading the Good News of God’s love and gathering other followers together. Today’s Venture lesson introduces the children to the overall concept of Gospel. They begin learning about and reading from the Gospel of Mark.
Connecting Scripture and Doctrine
The children will also discover that they share the work of spreading the Good News of Jesus’ love and gathering people together. The Christian community is like a fish net; it is a worldwide web of loving actions that connect people. We can share in Jesus’ work of tying together the community.
“By his word, through signs that manifest the reign of God, and by sending out disciples, Jesus calls all people to come together around him” (CCC, 542). “From the beginning of his public life Jesus chose certain men, twelve in number, to be with him and to participate in his mission” (CCC, 551). “In all his life Jesus presents himself as our model. He is ‘the perfect man,’ who invites us to become his disciples and follow him” (CCC, 520).
