Catholic Identity Project of the Week
Lent is a time for us to fast, to think of others before ourselves, and to focus on our relationships with God. Invite each child to identify one thing they are going to give up or add into their lives this Lent. Have each child write it down on a cross cutout and share with the group.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l February 21: Saint Damien – Father Damien was born in Belgium— a long way from the Hawaiian island of Molokai where he ministered to people afflicted with leprosy. Molokai was lawless and chaotic. Under his leadership, the community built houses and a church.
l February 22: The Chair of Saint Peter the Apostle – Cathedral comes from the word for “throne” or “chair.” A cathedral is where the chair of the bishop is. The chair we celebrate this day indicates the person who leads the universal Church. This feast commemorates Jesus calling Peter to sit as the earthly leader of the whole Church.
