While we cannot heal sickness like Jesus did, we can provide comfort to people who are sick. Ask the parish office for the names of sick or convalescing parishioners. Invite each child to make a card wishing an individual a quick recovery.
Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l February 6: Saint Paul Miki and Companions – A Jesuit brother born in Japan in late 16th century, Paul Miki and 26 others— catechists, missionaries, laymen, servants, elderly people, and children—were crucified in 1627 for their Christian beliefs. Today, there are about 500,000 Catholics in Japan.
l February 10: Saint Scholastica – Born into a wealthy family, Scholastica was free to pursue her education. She lived near Monte Cassino, the site of the first Benedictine monastery (her twin brother was Saint Benedict of Nursia, founder of the Benedictine order). She is patron of schools, tests, books, and reading.
