                                    March 11, 2018 • 4th Sunday of Lent
Nicodemus wanted Jesus to teach him about God. Jesus said, “God loves the world so much that he sent his only Son so that everyone who believes in him can live with God forever in Heaven. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn its people. He sent his Son to save them!”
Hearing about God’s love made Nicodemus happy. But he still didn’t want his friends to know he was talking with Jesus. Jesus knew Nicodemus was afraid and told him, “The light has come into the world, but people who do bad things love the dark more than the light. People who do bad things hate the light because it shows what they have done. People who live by the truth like the light because they want others to see the good things they are doing because of God’s love.”
Direct the children to remove the paper clips and black paper and look at the cover illustration of Seeds. Ask: Where is Jesus? Where is Nicodemus? They will notice Nicodemus is in two places. In the bottom picture, he’s telling his family about his talk with Jesus. Ask: How does Nicodemus look when he is talking with Jesus? Puzzled, not sure. Ask: How does he look when he tells his family about Jesus? Happy. He wants them to know all that he knows about Jesus.
Distribute the children’s What the Church Believes and Teaches handbooks.

Repeat the light parade from earlier, this time with the children waving their flags. Play and sing “Let’s Celebrate Now” (CD-2, #12).
Remind the children to share their Gospel Weeklies with their families and to do the Family Corner activities and prayer together.
What the Church Believes and Teaches
Prayer to the Guardian Angel (page 33)
The Church teaches that each one of us has a guardian angel who protects and guides us during this life. Encourage the children to pray this prayer when they get up in the morning and when they go to bed at night. They can also pray it when they feel fearful and upset.
Help the children learn this prayer by saying a line and asking them to repeat that line after you. Send a copy of this prayer home with the children and encourage them to practice it at home until they have memorized it.
Have the children close the What the Church Believes and Teaches handbooks and return to Seeds.
