Curriculum Connections
l Tech: Explain to the children that Jesus called the Twelve Apostles by visiting and talking to them. Brainstorm different ways Jesus might use to call people to follow him today (TV commercial, magazine advertisement, YouTube video, etc.). In small groups, have the children design an example of how Jesus might call people to join him today. (ISTE2016.1d, ISTE2016.6a)
l SS: Invite the children to brainstorm about why Jesus called fishermen. Ask: Why were there so many fishermen around? Direct the children to look at a map of ancient Israel. Ask them to write environmental characteristics present that might have encouraged people to become fishermen. (D2.Geo.4.K-2)

Saints and Feast Days to Celebrate
l January 22: Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Unborn Children – On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Catholics offer Masses and prayers for the gift of human life. Pray: Loving God, every life is precious. We thank you for every person—young, old, and unborn. Amen.
l January 25: The Conversion of Saint Paul the Apostle – “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” Jesus asks Saul (Paul) in Acts 9:4. Known for his prosecution of Christ’s followers, Saint Paul came to believe in Christ after this revelation on the road to Damascus.
