He calls Jesus the Lamb of God, intriguing Andrew and his friend (perhaps the writer of this Gospel, the Evangelist John) to seek out Jesus. Jesus invites them to come and see who he is.Andrew continues the chain of meetings by telling his brother Simon about Jesus. Jesus calls his first disciples through the words of a friend and the invitation of a brother.Connecting Scripture and DoctrineVisions explores how Jesus calls us today in our daily lives. “From the beginning, Jesus associated his disciples with his own life, revealed the mystery of the Kingdom to them, and gave them a share in his mission, joy, and sufferings.” (CCC, 787) To identify Jesus as the Lamb of God reveals he is “the suffering Servant who silently allows himself to be led to the slaughter and who bears the sin of the multitudes, and also the Paschal Lamb, the symbol of Israel’s redemption at the first Passover.” (CCC, 608)Materialsl Visions Student Lesson for 1/14l Catechism handbook, pages 22,25, and 26l CD player and Venture/Visions CDs l pencils or pens, Bible, cloth, candle, matches/lighterSuggested Musicl “We Are Called”(CD-2, #12)l “Word of Truth and Life” (CD-1, #1)Lesson Resourcesl Visions Activity Book, Activity #28 l Lesson Assessment(gospelweeklies.com/ assessments)VIS37_16.indd 18/25/17 7:06 PMGod calls each of us.God created each of us to ful ll a special purpose in our lives.
