Two of Mary’s feast days are holy days of obligation— the Assumption on August 15 and the feast honoring Mary as Mother of God on January 1.Have the children turn to page 17. Ask them to createa 2018 calendar of Mary. They simply divide a sheet of drawing paper into 12 spaces and label each space with the name of a month. As they read the page, they will add the feast of Mary to each month.Challenge the children to find out about feasts of Mary particular to their own parish or surrounding parishes. For instance, a Polish congregation may celebrate Our Ladyof Czestochowa on August 26 and an Italian parish might celebrate Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16. Enterprising children will enjoy this task.
