December 3, 2017 • 1st Sunday of AdventDistribute the children’s What the Church Believes and Teaches handbooks.Advent Calendar (page 7) Give the children a moment to examine the illustration, and then ask for their comments. Suggest that the children put the calendar on the refrigerator or bulletin board at home, so the whole family can do the activity each day. Give the children time to read this comic on their own. Remind the children that Juan Diego showed great faith, even when it might have been easy to doubt or even ignore the miracles happening in front of him.Closing Prayer l Reconciliation Prayer Service (page 6) Schools and parishes make an effort to have the Sacrament of Reconciliation available to children during Advent. This prayer service can serve as a preparation for the Sacrament. Or use this reconciliation service sometime during Advent with just your group. Choose children to take the parts and be the leaders. This is a time you can step back.Remind the children to share their Gospel Weeklies with their families and to do the With My Family and Friends activities and prayer together.WHAT THE CHURCH BELIEVES AND TEACHES HANDBOOKWhat the Church Believes and TeachesWhat Is the Liturgical Calendar?
