Discuss how Liturgy describes the two major parts of the Mass—the Liturgy of the Word and the Liturgy of the Eucharist.Our Catholic Faith l Worship Builds up the Church (page 5) Use the photo and caption to introduce the feature and reinforce the meaning of the word Liturgy. Have the students read the rest of the feature silently and complete the questions. Invite volunteers to share their responses to the first question. Ask who has helped with worship in your parish or whose parents do. Fun and imagination rule at Disney. Magic reigns at Hogwarts. Flowers and trees grow where they will in the wild. The Constitution and Bill of Rights set the laws for the United States. Summarize that a kingdom isn’t just a geographic area; it’s a reign with distinctive characteristics.Read the rest of the text aloud and have the young people work in pairs to respond to the two questions at the bottom of the page. Have volunteers share their responses, and discuss them. Summarize that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a generous landowner who cares abundantly about all.Activity l A Promise to Work Together(page 7) Read Steps 1 and 2 aloud to your group and have your young people complete the two sentences at left that begin “I promise.” Divide the group into threes or fours, have the young people share their promises, and work to complete the sentences “We promise to...” and “As a class, we promise to... .”Have groups report their answers aloud to the class. List the suggestions for the class promise on a board or newsprint. Discuss the list and have the students vote for one as the promise for the entire class. Have each student write this promise in the space at the bottom of page 7.Puzzle l Let's Get Ready for Visions! (page 8) Read aloud the introductory paragraph.
