Ask the children to think about something big coming up in their lives this week— perhaps it’s one of the situations you encountered in the cover activity. Ask them to close their eyes while you pray: “Dear God, when we have big decisions, remind us to turn to you. Help us to remember your Gospel message to be prepared. We want to live our lives ready to return to you. Amen.”Remind the children to share their Gospel Weeklies with their families and to do the With My Family and Friends activities and prayer together.Lesson Wrap-UpThe NEW Gospel WeekliesThe NEW Gospel WeekliesPFLAUM GOSPEL WEEKLIES Faith Formation ProgramPFLAUM GOSPEL WEEKLIES Faith Formation Programdefines church as a gathering. Continue reading the second paragraph, which highlights the role ofthe Holy Spirit in the Church.Ask the young people to define the Body of Christ. Then read the third paragraph aloud. When you have finished, ask: What do you contribute to the Body of Christ? Remind the young people, since they are not yet employed or starting their vocations, that their contribution comes from the gifts and talents God has given them.Read the final paragraph. Pause and repeat the second half of the last sentence: “...the Church is often called the Bride of Christ.” Ask: if the Church is the Bride of Christ, who is the bridegroom? The young people will likely respond “Jesus.” Now, ask the young people to go back to the Gospel on page 4 in their Visions lesson. If we replace the bridegroom with Jesus and the bride with the Body of Christ—that is, all of us— does this Gospel begin to take on more meaning for them?Have the young people close their What the Church Believes and Teaches handbooks and return to Visions, page 5.Catholic Faith Word l Wisdom (page 5) Introduce the Our Catholic Faith feature by reading this week’s word—wisdom.
