Read aloud the description of the three tables in the quotation from the U.S. Bishops’ document on economic life and hunger.Then talk through the four legs of the table illustration on page 7. The bishops describe the four "legs" in their pastoral re ection. Help the young people identify ways each leg touches their lives. Leg 1: Free school lunches, food programs for new mothers, food stamps, Earned Income Tax Credit. Leg 2: Use local examples.Leg 3: Many businesses do projects such as build Habitat for Humanity homes and collect for food pantries. Leg 4: Invite the students to share in small groups and then with the whole group.Catholic Leaders l A Simple Meal (page 8) Read about a Florida parish who o ered hospitality to people they’ve never met by providing simple meals and kind messages. Ask the young people how they might pay better attention to people who might otherwise go unnoticed.Closing Prayer Catholics pray the Blessing Before Meals to give thanks to God for their food. Before sharing Eucharist at Mass, Catholics join hands and share The Lord’s Prayer. Stand in a circle, join hands, and recite The Lord’s Prayer together.
