WHAT THE CHURCH BELIEVES AND TEACHES HANDBOOKWhat the Church Believes and TeachesLiturgy of the Word (page 47)Remind the children that theyLiving the Gospel l Play Wise and Foolish Choices (pages 6–7) Children who recognize this game as following the model of Chutes and Ladders will be excited to form groups of four and play this new version. The board traces a day of dilemmas starting at sunrise, going through a day at school, and concluding in the evening at home. After playing a round of the game, ask the children what they’ve learned about their choices and the consequences of their actions.Saints l Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini (page 8) Ask the children whether they have heard of the saint in this week’s lesson. Many hospitals and schools are named after Mother Cabrini. Note that even by modern standards, Saint Frances was extremely well-traveled. She crossed the ocean 30 times!Closing Prayer God gives us free will, but desires that we make good choices that help us return to him. Gather in a prayer circle. Ask the children to think about something big coming up in their lives this week—maybe it’s one of the situations you encountered in the cover activity. Have them close their eyes while you pray: “Dear God, when we have big decisions, remind us to turn to you. Help us to remember your Gospel message to be prepared. We want to live our lives ready to return to you. Amen.”Remind the children to share their Gospel Weeklies with their families and to do the With My Family and Friends activities and prayer together.Lesson Wrap-UpNovember 12, 2017 • 32nd Sunday in Ordinary TimeThe NEW Gospel WeekliesThe NEW Gospel WeekliesPFLAUM GOSPEL WEEKLIES Faith Formation ProgramPFLAUM GOSPEL WEEKLIES Faith Formation Programstudied the Liturgy of the Word a month ago when they learned about the Parable of theWedding Feast.
