Closing Prayer Ask for volunteers to read the Scripture passages for the closing prayer. Give these volunteers a minuteor two to prepare their readings whilethe others are gathering and quieting themselves for prayer. Be prepared to help the readers with any pronunciation or other questions.First Reading: Acts 1:12–14, Jesus’ followers gather in Jerusalem after he returns to God.Second Reading: Acts 2:1–4, The Holy Spirit comes to Jesus’ followers.Have another volunteer light the candle. Suggest that the light is a reminder of the presence of the Holy Spirit, the helper and guide that Jesus promised to send us. Invite the young people to make themselves comfortable and to quiet themselves for a prayer.Give a brief summary of each reading before the reader begins. After a brief pause, thank Jesus for sending his Holy Spirit on this group of boys and girls. Ask the Spirit to guide you as you study the Gospel and learn more about the Catholic faith. Ask if any of the young people have a petition they want to make. Conclude their sharing by commending their concerns to Jesus and the Spirit.Thank the young people for their attendance and attention. Remind them of the time of their next meeting.Early Start 2: We Gather TogetherOnline Early Start Lesson 2©2017PflaumPublishingGroup,adivisionofBayard,Inc.
