Show the bottom panel. What is Jesus doing here that you do too? He is eating bread and fruit, and has something to drink, too. He is with friends. They are inside at a table so it is probably someone’s house. Maybe it is Jesus’ house. He didn’t live outside. He had a home as you do.Promise the children that they will learn much more about Jesus during their Seeds lessons. Conclude with a fun song from the Seeds Music CD, “God Gave Me Hands” (CD-1, #13). Tell the children to imagine Jesus singing this song with them, clapping and tapping and laughing. Add a verse that says, “God gaveme legs that walk, walk, walk,” and lead the children to the work area.Live the GospelActivity: God Gave Me a Family Talk together about who is in each child’s family. Give them each a chance, one at a time, to say aloud the names of family members. Many children will have people they count as family who are aunts and uncles, neighbors, Mom’s boyfriend or Dad’s girlfriend. Don’t judge the makeup of the families the children describe. Tell them family members are the people who love them and take care of them.Distribute the “God Gave Me a Family” activity page and crayons or colored pencils. While the children draw their family picture, go around the room writing the child’s name and giving any advice he or she needs about the picture.Prayer of Thanksgiving: Gather the children in the prayer space. Have them sit comfortably in a circle. Ask the children if they have people or concerns they wish to tell God about today. Have them take turns asking God’s help. After they have shared these prayers, ask if thereis anything for which they want to say thank you to God. You can begin by thanking God for helpers in your room and for parents whoOnline Early Start Lesson 2brought the children to learn about Jesus. Give the children the opportunity to add their own thank-you prayers. Conclude your prayer time by thanking God for your time together.Going Home: Thank the children for coming to spend this time together. Commend them for their polite and respectful behavior during class. Tell them you look forward to seeing them all again the next time. Sing The Seed Song (Seeds Music CD, CD-1, Track #1) before you dismiss the children.Early Start 2: We Gather Together©2017PflaumPublishingGroup,adivisionofBayard,Inc.
