SUNDAY’S GOSPEL—February 10, 2019 – 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time

2

Luke 5:1–11

Luke’s telling of the call of the disciples focuses on Simon Peter. Jesus tells Peter to cast his net for a catch even though Peter has fished all night without catching a single fish. He does what Jesus suggests and has a tremendous catch. The great catch of fish reminds Peter of his own human weakness and sinfulness. It also is the opportunity for Jesus to call Peter to a new vocation—catching people!

Lucas 5, 1–11
